What's going on with Alexandria 4-H?

Alexandria Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities 4-H After-school Enrichment

Youth throughout the city of Alexandria have the opportunity to participate in 4-H through a programming partnership with ARPCA Out of School Time Programs. These students are engaged in monthly theme based 4-H programming facilitated by after school staff members and 4-H professions. 

Looking to Start a 4-H Club in Alexandria... Here's How!  (It's easier than you think.)

Step 1: Get Started! Contact the Alexandria Extension Office to discuss your club needs, goals, and available leader training. 

Step 2: Increase Community Awareness About 4-H Programming! Conduct an informational session, ask 4-H members and alumni to share about their experiences, explain how 4-H works!

Step 3: Establish A Support Base for the Club! Recruit additional volunteers (adults & teens) and assign leadership roles!

Step 3: Conduct Club Organizational Meetings! Select a club name, complete 4-H member and volunteer enrollment forms, develop a club annual plan, establish meeting times, elect officers, etc.

Step 5: Maintain the Club! Select 4-H projects, conduct regular meetings, allow youth to make decisions, get involved in local, regional, and statewide 4-H events!

Bridges 2 Independence Leadership Academy 4-H Teen Club
Bridges 2 Independence Leadership Academy is a 4-H community club comprised of intermediate and senior 4-H members from the City of Alexandria and Arlington County.  The club was born out of a partnership with Bridges To Independence (formerly AACH), Virginia Cooperative Extension, and The Smithsonian Museum. The club members and leaders focus on four core areas: education, healthy living, teamwork, and career readiness. 2015 Fairfax, Arlington, Alexandria 4-H Junior Camp  
Sunday June 28 - Thursday July 2, 2015

Fairfax, Arlington, and Alexandria (FAA) 4-H Junior Camp is held each summer at the Northern Virginia 4-H Educational Center . Camp is open to youth age 9-13(Must be 9 years old by Sept. 30, 2015). The camp fee of $305.00 includes transportation from camp, meals and lodging for five days and four nights, a camp T-shirt, and class supplies. Campers have the opportunity to pick their roommates if they like, and are then placed in a room with campers of similar age. Each morning, campers attend three different activities from options that include activities such as fishing, archery, horseback riding, or a ropes challenge course, plus much more. Lunch is followed by free recreation and swim time, and every evening campers enjoy a campfire, snack, and an evening program.
